If you are looking for an affordable option, you should definitely read this Joey mattress review. This is one of Malaysia’s most popular mattress brands and there is good reason for that.
The Joey mattress is designed, built and marketed by Malaysians so it’s a true local product. Founded by Joey and Winson back in 2018, this is a brand that has seen tremendous success in recent years. Their mattress is a foam-only option and it’s built with in-house technology. I decided to order mine almost 3 weeks ago so let’s move now to the full review below.
How is this mattress made?
The Joey mattress has a straightforward design. It’s made of 2 layers plus the cover. These are:
- A J-Foam Comfort™ layer that is engineered for maximum pressure-point relief.
- A high-resilience J-Foam Support™ layer that as its name suggests can provide your body with the needed support. This layer also works as the base of this mattress.
This mattress has a medium profile as it measures 23cm in height. All foams used here are CertiPUR-US certified so they are free from heavy metals, harmful chemicals and ozone depleters. This is great and it shows the quality of this mattress.
Does it come with a nice cover?
The cover of the Joey mattress is made of two parts. The upper one is made of 68% Polyester and 32% Viscose while the bottom one is made of 100% Polyester. This is a nice blend that ensures that the cover is both breathable and durable. To further increase its breathability, the engineers at Joey have added air vents to the top part. The cover feels soft and it has a premium feel. The design is a beautiful one and the denim side part looks very cool.
The main downside here is that the cover is not removable so you can only spot-clean it when that is needed. Moreover, there are no side handles so it’s not very easy to move it. Other than that, this is a good cover that does the job.
How firm is the Joey mattress?
It’s time now to continue writing this Joey mattress review and talk about its feel. This is a typical boxed mattress so it comes with a medium-firm feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.5 with 10 being really firm. I want to talk now about the different sleeping positions and how this mattress performed in the past two weeks.
Starting from the back position as always, the mattress hugged my shoulders and hips and pressure relief was great. The mattress handled my weight and my spinal alignment was correct.
Turning to the side position, the foam layers felt responsive and sinkage increased. This helped my spine to sit in a neutral position which is important. There was no discomfort in the hips area and I felt comfortable sleeping this way.
Finally, moving to the stomach position, I felt that the Joey mattress was not firm enough for my taste. I felt that my chest was not well-supported but if you have a smaller build, you will probably be fine in this position.
This mattress is ideal for couples as it has minimal motion transfer. On the other hand, edge support is average but this is expected from a foam-only mattress.
Does it come with free delivery?
One of the things I hate the most is paying for delivery. The good news is that the Joey mattress comes with free scheduled delivery for all those living in Klang Valley. If you live in West Malaysia, your mattress will be delivered within 1-5 working days. For East Malaysia, there are two options. A free sea freight delivery that takes 25-30 working days and a paid air freight delivery that takes 5-10 working days. The latter will cost you an extra RM200.
I am based in Kuala Lumpur and my mattress was delivered within 2 working days. The box arrived in excellent condition and the delivery was done by Lalamove. The process was smooth and I got a really good service from them.
Will I get a trial period?
If you don’t feel comfortable buying a mattress online, the people at Joey have you covered. All their mattresses come with a 99-night trial period that gives you plenty of time to try them at home. If you are not happy with your mattress’ performance, you can return it and ask for your money back. Returns are free and the process is a straightforward one.
Additionally, all Joey mattresses come with a 10-year warranty that will cover you for a long time. Most boxed mattresses come with such a policy and the Joey mattress is no exception. Overall, this is a great support package here which is what you expect from such a brand.
Is this an affordable mattress?
The Joey mattress is available in 7 sizes and that means that you will find the one that suits your needs. The good news is that there are two IKEA sizes available for those who have frames from the popular Swedish shop. The smaller size (Single) sells for RM1,350 with the bigger one (Super King) going for RM2,995. The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.
SIZE | DIMENSIONS | PRICE |

Super Single | 107 x 190 x 23cm | RM1,695 |

IKEA King | 180 x 200 x 23cm | RM2,695 |

Who should buy the Joey mattress?
I am ready now to complete this Joey mattress review and answer the above question. In my opinion, this would be ideal for anyone looking for:
- A foam-only mattress that is built with great materials.
- An affordable mattress that is suitable for couples.
- A mattress that comes with excellent service and support.
If you are looking for all of these, the Joey mattress should be one to consider. This is a Malaysian-made mattress that will suit most sleepers and it comes with an affordable price tag. It’s a great foam-only option that I can recommend.
