Many people have a tight budget but they still want a well-made mattress. If you fall into this category, this Sonno Lite mattress review might be all you need. After seeing great success with the Sonno Original mattress, the people at Sonno decided it was the right time to release a more affordable option.
The Sonno Lite mattress features a foam-only construction but more on that later. As expected these days, this is another boxed mattress and it will be shipped directly to your door. Mine was delivered almost ten days ago so it’s a good time now to move to the full review below.
What are the layers of this mattress?
This mattress has a straightforward design and it features 2 layers. These are:
- A memory foam layer that has excellent pressure-relieving properties. It can also isolate motion so you don’t disturb your partner.
- A support foam layer that is the base of this mattress. It can provide any body with the needed support.
The Sonno Lite mattress measures 18cm so it has a low profile. All foams used here are CertiPUR-US certified so they are free from harmful substances. The image below gives a better look at how this mattress looks from the inside.
Does it have a nice cover?
This mattress comes with a soft knitted cotton cover that has a plain look. This is a breathable material that has the ability to regulate temperature. Moreover, this fabric is hypoallergenic and it can repel dust mites. The cover has a nice feel and it’s quite comfortable to sleep on. The bad news is that it’s not removable so you cannot machine wash it. I would suggest you use a steam cleaner for its maintenance. Overall, this is a decent cover that will do the job.
Is this a firm mattress?
It’s time now to continue writing this Sonno Lite mattress review and talk about its firmness. This is a mattress built for every body type so it comes with a medium-firm feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.6 with 10 being really firm. Let’s talk now about the performance of this mattress during the past ten days.
Starting from the back position, support was good and I was comfortable sleeping this way. Pressure relief was average but I was expecting that from a mattress of this kind.
Turning to the side position, the mattress adjusted quickly and sinkage increased. This helped my spine to align properly. There was no pain in my hips and I was comfortable sleeping on my side.
Finally turning to the stomach position, the sleeping surface wasn’t firm enough and I felt that I was not supported properly. I would say that this mattress is best suited to back and side sleepers.
If you share your bed with a partner, the good news is that there is no motion transfer. That means that you won’t disturb each other. On the other hand, the edge support is not great but this is expected from such a mattress.
Will I pay for delivery?
If you decide to buy a Sonno mattress you will get free delivery. For those living in Klang Valley, your mattress will be delivered within 2-4 working days. For the rest of the areas, this will take a bit longer, 4-6 working days. As I have mentioned before, I am based in Kuala Lumpur so my mattress was delivered within 3 days. The process was smooth and the people at Sonno notified me about every step of the process. The box came in good condition and the courier was very kind. Overall, I was happy with the service I got so no complaints at all.
Is there a way to try it first?
Buying a mattress online makes a lot of people feel uncomfortable. I used to be one of them too but thankfully, brands like Sonno offer a trial period so you have 100 nights to try this at home. If you are not happy with its performance, you can return it and get your money back. Returns are free and their customer service department will take care of everything. I have to mention here that you don’t need to keep the original packaging to be able to complete a return.
Moreover, this mattress comes with a 10-year warranty which shows how confident they are about their products. Before you buy it, make sure you visit their warranty page for the full terms and conditions. Overall, this is a complete package here so no complaints at all.
How affordable is this mattress?
The Sonno Lite mattress is one of the most affordable buys in Malaysia. It’s available in 4 sizes so there are limited options to choose from. The smaller size (Single) sells for RM1,299 with the bigger one (King) going for RM2,199. However, Sonno is a brand that runs frequent promotions so you will definitely pay less than that. For instance, I only paid RM1,599 for a Queen-sized one. The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.
SIZE | DIMENSIONS | PRICE |
Single | 190 x 90 x 18cm | RM1,299 |
Super Single | 190 x 107 x 18cm | RM1,599 |
Queen | 190 x 150 x 18cm | RM1,899 |
King | 190 x 180 x 18cm | RM2,199 |
Should I consider the Sonno Lite mattress?
This is the question I need to answer before I complete this Sonno Lite mattress review. In my opinion, this would be a good option for anyone looking for:
- A memory foam mattress that is good for back and side sleepers.
- An affordable mattress that is suitable for couples.
- A mattress that comes with a 100-night trial period.
If all of these sound good to you, this is a good choice. The main selling point is its affordable price so if you have a tight budget this should be high on your list. Sonno managed to build a value-for-money mattress here and this is hard to ignore.
