Emma is probably the biggest mattress brand in the world and they recently entered the Malaysian market. In this Emma One mattress review, I talk about this affordable option that is designed for those with a tight budget.
This is a foam-only mattress that comes packed inside a carton box and it’s built to suit every type of sleeper. I decided to order one almost three weeks ago so it’s time now to move to the full review below.
What is this mattress made of?
The Emma One mattress features 3 layers. In detail, these are:
- An Airgocell foam layer that is designed to regulate heat. Moreover, this type of foam can minimize motion transfer and add comfort.
- A memory foam layer that has excellent pressure-relieving properties. This will help your joints get a good rest.
- An HRX foam base layer that can provide your body with the needed support. It’s the base of this mattress and features incisions in the pelvic and shoulder areas. This helps with better pressure distribution.
The One mattress measures 18cm in height and the image below gives us a better look at how it looks from the inside.
How good is its cover?
The cover of this mattress is made of two parts. The top one is made of 100% polyester while the bottom part is made of 89% polyester and 11% polypropylene. This blend is breathable which means that the One mattress will stay cool during the night. Moreover, polyester is very durable so this cover will last for a really long time. The good news is that this cover is removable and you can machine-wash it. This is so practical and it makes cleaning an easy task.
On the sides, the mattress features 4 handles that will help you move it with ease. This is impressive, especially for a mattress that has this price tag. On the bottom side, the engineers at Emma have added an anti-slip surface so this mattress stays in place. As you see this is a well-designed cover so well done Emma! Finally, I have to mention here that the cover is OEKO-TEX 100 certified so it’s free from any harmful substances.
Is this a soft mattress?
It’s time now to continue writing this Emma One mattress review and talk about its firmness. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.6 with 10 being really firm. I want to talk now about its performance for the past few weeks.
Starting from the back position, the Emma One mattress did a good job distributing my weight evenly. Support was good and I felt comfortable sleeping this way.
Turning to the side position, the foam layers adjusted quickly and that helped my spine align properly. There was no discomfort in my hip area which is important in this position.
Finally, moving to the stomach position the mattress did a decent job but it wasn’t as firm as I would have preferred for this position. Overall, I would say that this mattress is an all-rounder but it does a better job in the back and side position.
If you sleep with your partner, this can be a great option. Due to its foam-only construction, there is no motion transfer so you can sleep without disturbing each other. On the other hand, the edge support is average but this is expected from such a mattress.
Does this mattress come with free delivery?
Paying for delivery always annoys me but the good news here is that all Emma mattresses come with free nationwide delivery. Depending on your location, this can take between 3-7 working days. As I have mentioned earlier, this is a rolled mattress so it will come packed inside a carton box. I live in Kuala Lumpur and my mattress was delivered within 3 days. The box came in decent condition and the courier was polite. Communication was good and I was informed about the day I would receive my mattress. Overall, I was happy with their service and there was nothing negative about it.
Is there a trial period?
If you hesitate to buy a mattress online, I have good news for you. The Emma One mattress comes with a 100-night trial period so you have more than 3 months to try this at home. If you are not happy with this purchase, you can return it and get your money back. Moreover, you will get a 10-year warranty so you are covered for a long time. Most boxed mattresses come with such a policy but still, this is important. After all, it shows how confident they are about their products. Overall, this is a complete package and it’s great they offer this at this price.
Is this an affordable mattress?
The Emma One mattress is available in only two sizes so this is a big drawback in my opinion. The smaller size (Queen) sells for RM1,799 with the bigger one (King) going for RM2,299. Below you will find all the information you need about the available sizes.

Who should buy the Emma One mattress?
This is the question that I need to answer before I complete this Emma One mattress review. In my opinion, this can be a great option for anyone looking for:

Emma managed to build a good mattress here and although it’s not the best that I have tried, it’s a great choice for young people or couples. If you don’t want to break the bank, this is a quality option that won’t disappoint.
