If you live in Malaysia, the humid climate can make it really difficult to sleep. In this Mlily Igloo mattress review, I will talk about this hybrid option that is designed to sleep cool.
Mlily is a well-known brand in Malaysia and they have sold thousands of mattresses since their launch a few years back. They have developed a wide range of sleeping products but the Igloo mattress is their best-seller. I got mine two weeks ago so it’s time now to move to the full review below.
What is this mattress made of?
The Mlily Igloo mattress is made of 5 layers plus the fabric. In detail, these are:
- An AdaptiFoam layer that is responsive and can provide firm support. Moreover, this type of foam has an open cell construction that allows airflow.
- A Flex Comfort foam layer that helps you to sleep more comfortably.
- A pocket spring foam encase that improves edge support.
- A pocket spring layer that features 7 different zones. These offer customised support for the different parts of your body.
- A high-resilient foam layer that is the foundation of this mattress. It adds support but also protects the pocket springs.
This mattress measures 25cm in height so you can use your old sheets with it. The image below shows us how this mattress looks from the inside.
How good is the cover?
One of the best things about this mattress is its cover. It’s made with Nanocool fabric that has the ability to regulate heat. That allows you to sleep cool during the night so you can rest better. The cover is removable and machine-washable so you can clean it with ease. To do so all you have to do is unzip it and pop it inside your washing machine. The cover is made of two parts. The upper one is soft to the touch and it features a nice white colour. The bottom part is grey and it has an anti-slip base which will keep your mattress in place. The cover comes with the OEKO-TEX 100 Standard which ensures it’s free from harmful substances. Overall, this is a well-designed cover that won’t disappoint.
How firm is this mattress?
Let’s continue now with this Mlily Igloo mattress review and talk about its feel. This is a mattress that is built for the average sleeper so it comes with a medium-firm feel. If I use my virtual scale, I would say it’s a 6.8 with 10 being really firm. I want to talk now about my experience with it for the past two weeks.
Lying on my back, the mattress reacted quickly and I felt well-supported. The pocket springs did a good job of distributing my weight evenly so I felt comfortable in this position.
Turning to the side position, the springs adjusted rapidly and sinkage increased. This allowed my spine to alight correctly and I felt that the mattress did a good job in this position.
Finally, turning to the stomach position, the sleeping surface was firm enough and my hips and shoulders were in the right position. Overall, I would say the Mlily Igloo mattress is built for every sleeping position and this is hard to ignore.
As for the edge support, the foam encasement does a great job so you will get in and out of bed with ease. On the other hand, there is some motion transfer due to the existence of springs. Nothing too bad but I feel I should let you know about it.
Will I pay for delivery?
The short answer is no. Mlily is one of the few makers in Malaysia that offer free nationwide delivery. If you live in West Malaysia, delivery usually takes 2-5 working days. On the other hand, if you live in East Malaysia this will take longer, 5-10 working days. The mattress will be delivered inside a carton box and before you use it, make sure you give it enough time to decompress. The courier was prompt and polite and overall, I was happy with the service I got.
Can I try this at home?
Unfortunately, the people at Mlily don’t offer a trial period and this is the biggest drawback of this mattress. Almost every other boxed mattress comes with such a service so it’s quite disappointing that Mlily doesn’t offer that. Hopefully, this will change in the near future but for now, you have to live without it. The good news is that all their mattresses come with a 10-year warranty that will cover you against all manufacturing and workmanship defects. This shows that they trust their products but also that they value their customers.
How expensive is this mattress?
This is not a very expensive option and I would say that it’s moderately priced. There are only 3 sizes available so the options are quite limited. The smaller one (Super Single) goes for RM1,199 while the bigger one (King) sells for RM2,199. The table below has all the available sizes and their prices.
SINGLE | DIMENSIONS | PRICE |
Super Single | 107 x 190 x 25cm | RM1,199 |
Queen | 150 x 190 x 25cm | RM1,799 |
King | 180 x 190 x 25cm | RM2,199 |
Should I buy the Mlily Igloo mattress?
This is the question in everyone’s head and I will try to answer it before I complete this Mlily Igloo mattress review. This would be a good option for anyone looking for:
- A cooling mattress that will suit every position.
- A hybrid mattress that has excellent edge support.
- A mattress with a 10-year warranty.
If the people at Mlily offered a trial period, this would be one of the top options in Malaysia. Without it, I feel that this is a major drawback and something that I can’t ignore. If you can, this is a great all-rounder that won’t disappoint.
